My Education and Credentials:
My Professional Experience: More than ten years of counseling experience with a variety of people:
My Personal Life: Before moving to Oregon in 2003 to pursue a career in counseling, my husband and I lived, worked, and raised our kids in Juneau, Alaska. As a working mom, I had to figure out how to contribute financially and fulfill my family responsibilities at home; yes, it was a juggling act. My employment, during those years, included: site supervisor of several seniors centers in small villages around SE Alaska; in-home care to developmentally disabled adults and children; and, administrative work for the State of Alaska Mental Health Office and for the Juneau School District. Finding the right balance between work and home responsibilities was not always easy. It took effort, commitment, and a willingness to make mid-course corrections when needed. I am always looking for what works, and I bring that attitude into my practice. I encourage people to experiment and take reasonable risks. A guiding principle in my personal and professional life is: If what you are doing isn't working, do something else! |
